How to Write Concept Art Prompts - Nano Banana 2
Concept art comes in recognised formats, and naming one gets you the layout. A character turnaround shows the same figure from front, side and back on a plain background. A prop sheet shows one object from several angles with detail insets. An environment key frame is a single wide painted shot establishing mood and scale. A vehicle sheet shows a profile view with mechanical detail.
“Character concept sheet, front and side views on a neutral grey background, full figure” produces something usable. “Epic fantasy character concept art” produces a portrait in dramatic lighting where you cannot see the boots.
Borrowing a design tradition works the same way it does for painting. Brutalist architecture, 1970s Soviet industrial design, Art Deco, agricultural machinery, deep-sea diving equipment — these carry shape language and material logic that make a design feel like it came from somewhere rather than from nowhere.
Silhouette is worth calling out directly, since it is the first thing a designer judges. A strong readable silhouette, distinctive from a distance. This pushes the model toward bold shapes rather than the busy noisy detail it tends to default to.
